It’s that time of year again, time to complete your annual Skills Maintenance, known to everyone at Portsea as Requals. Your Requal is your responsibility. Read this page carefully so you know exactly what you need to do, and when. If you have any questions, email the Education Team: education@portseasurf.com.au

IRBC E-learning plus a practical session
IRBD E-learning plus a practical session

FA Full CPR course, or if your 3-year competency has expired or is about to, the full First Aid course (which includes CPR)

A NOTE ON ACCREDITED HEALTH UNITS

Some awards, the emergency care ones, also carry an official healthcare qualification (a Unit of Competency). These need a different process to stay current, and a normal club requal session does not update them. If your work or another role requires these to be current, take note:

Unit of Competency Related award How to keep it current
HLTAID009 Resuscitation (CPR) Full course every 12 months
HLTAID011 First Aid (FA) Full course every 3 years, plus annual CPR
HLTAID015 Advanced Resuscitation Techniques (ART) Full course every 3 years, plus annual CPR

If you hold ART, you still need to complete your annual club Skills Maintenance as well, on top of keeping this unit current.

HOW TO REQUAL

Requals are processed entirely through the LSV Skills Maintenance App, there are no more physical requal cards.

This means:

  • You must book into a Portsea requal session in advance via the LSV Member Training Portal (mt.lsv.com.au). You can’t just show up on the day, you’ll be turned away.
  • You must complete all e-learning modules before your booked practical session, or your award won’t be processed that day.
STEP BY STEP
  1. Make sure your details are correct on both the SLS Members Area (members.sls.com.au) and the LSV Member Training Portal (mt.lsv.com.au).
  2. On the Member Training Portal home page, click the grey “Skills Maintenance” box.
  3. Click “Enrol” for each award you need to requalify.
  4. Refresh the page, then click “Launch” for each award.
  5. Complete the e-learning for each award. Always click “Save & Exit” before closing the window.
  6. Refresh again, you should see a grey “Relaunch” box once e-learning is done. If not, try refreshing, or relaunch and save & exit again.
  7. Screenshot your completed awards so you can show your instructor on the day.
  8. Click “02 – Book Practical” near the top of the page.
  9. Find a listed Portsea SLSC session that includes the awards you need, then click “Enrol”.
  10. Check your details, click “Next”.
  11. Read and confirm the checkboxes.
  12. Sign digitally, then click “Confirm”.
  13. You’ll get an email confirmation, add it to your calendar so you don’t miss it.
IF YOU HOLD ART OR FIRST AID

For your annual CPR course or full ART/FA course:

  1. Sign in at mt.lsv.com.au with your SLS Members Area login.
  2. Find the relevant listed Portsea course on the dashboard.
  3. Click “Enrol”, check the prerequisites, click “Proceed”.
  4. Check your details, click “Next” through each screen.
  5. Read and confirm the checkboxes, sign digitally, click “Confirm”.
  6. Complete your CPR or ART/FA e-learning (see below).
COMPLETING YOUR E-LEARNING

E-learning is compulsory. If you don’t finish it before your session starts, you won’t be able to process your award that day, you’ll need to attend a later session once it’s done.

  1. Sign in at mt.lsv.com.au.
  2. Click “View Enrolled Courses”.
  3. Find your course, click “Launch”.
  4. Work through each module, new ones unlock as you complete the previous one’s assessment. Always click “Save & Exit” when taking a break.
  5. Once finished, you’ll see a “Congratulations” screen, click “Save & Exit” to lock it in.
  6. Screenshot the Congratulations screen as proof, just in case of an IT issue before your session.

Sessions are limited and fill on a first come, first served basis. Portsea SLSC’s Education Team can only process requals on these specified days, if you can’t make one, you’ll need to requal at a different club before 31 December to remain an active member.
